Week 1 Day 1 - God Knows Me

Today at Son Seekers, your child talked about a Bible truth in a simple, age-appropriate way: God knows us and loves us. You do not have to have all the answers to continue the conversation at home. This page is here to help you share a short, meaningful moment with your child.

Today’s Simple Truth:  God knows everything about me and still loves me.

Bible Verse We Talked About:  Psalm 139:1–6 (New International Reader’s Version)

1  Lord, you have seen what is in my heart.

    You know all about me.

2 You know when I sit down and when I get up.

You know what I’m thinking even though you are far away.

3 You know when I go out to work and when I come back home.

You know exactly how I live.

4 Lord, even before I speak a word,

    you know all about it.

5 You are all around me, behind me and in front of me.

You hold me safe in your hand.

6 I’m amazed at how well you know me.

It’s more than I can understand.

In Simple Words:

The Bible teaches that God knows us deeply. He knows what we do, what we think, what we feel, and what we need. Today, your child learned that being known by God is not something to fear. It means they are seen, cared for, and loved.

Ask Your Child:

1. What is something God knows about you?

2. How does it feel to know God sees you and loves you?

3. What is one thing that makes you special?

Simple Prayer Option:

If praying out loud is new for your family, you can simply read this together:

“God, thank You for knowing us and loving us. Help us remember that we are special to You. Amen.”

If You Are New to This:

If faith conversations are new or uncomfortable, that is okay. You do not need to explain everything perfectly. You can simply ask your child what they learned and listen. A simple response like, “I’m glad you learned that today. Tell me more,” can be meaningful.

Parent Encouragement:

Children often need repeated reminders that they are seen and loved. Look for one specific thing to encourage in your child tonight — not just what they did, but who they are.

Examples:

“I love how thoughtful you are.”

“I noticed how hard you tried.”

“I’m glad God made you you.”

Adult Devotion: Known, Not Exposed

Scripture:   Psalm 139:1–2  NIV

1  You have searched me, Lord,

    and you know me.

2 You know when I sit and when I rise;

you perceive my thoughts from afar.

Devotional Reading:

Most adults know what it feels like to be evaluated. We are evaluated by performance, productivity, parenting decisions, finances, responsibilities, attitudes, and how well we seem to be holding everything together.

Because of that, the idea of being fully known can feel uncomfortable. If someone really knew our thoughts, fears, regrets, insecurities, and private struggles, would they still respect us? Would they still love us?

Psalm 139 gives us a different picture of being known. God’s knowledge is not the same as being inspected by someone looking for failure. God’s knowledge is personal and loving. He knows when we sit down and when we rise. He knows our thoughts before we speak. He knows the parts of us we show others and the parts we quietly carry.

That kind of knowledge could feel frightening if God were harsh or distant. But Scripture shows us a God who moves toward people with truth and love. He knows us completely, and He still invites us to come near.

Today, your child learned that God knows them and loves them. That truth is not only for children. It is for you too.

You do not have to clean yourself up before God can care about you. You do not have to have perfect words. You do not have to pretend you are less tired, less unsure, or less human than you are. God already knows.

And being known by God does not mean being exposed for shame. It means being seen with love.

Adult Reflection Questions:

1. What part of being fully known feels comforting to me? What part feels uncomfortable?

2. Are there areas of my life where I feel pressure to appear more “together” than I really feel?

3. What would it look like this week to be more honest with God, even in a simple way?

Simple Prayer:

“God, You know me completely. You know what I carry, what I hide, and what I need. Help me believe that Your knowledge of me is loving, not condemning. Help me take one honest step toward You. Amen.”

Optional Next Step:

Take one quiet minute tonight and say honestly to God:

“God, here is where I really am today…”

You do not need polished words. Start there.
