Today at Son Seekers:
Your child learned that God helps us know the way to go. We talked about how God’s guidance is not only for big decisions, but also for everyday choices — what we say, how we treat people, how we respond when we are frustrated, and what we do when we need help.
Today’s Simple Truth:
God helps me know the way to go.
Bible Verse We Talked About:
Proverbs 3:6 (New International Reader’s Version)
6 In all your ways obey him.
Then he will make your paths smooth and straight.
In Simple Words:
God does not leave us to figure out life all by ourselves. He helps us know what is good, wise, loving, and right.
God’s way is not always the easiest way, but it is always good. Sometimes the right way means telling the truth, saying “I’m sorry,” asking for help, including someone, using kind words, or walking away from something wrong.
Today, children learned that God can guide our choices, our words, our friendships, and our next steps.
Ask Your Child:
What does it mean that God shows us the right way?
What is one choice a kid might need help making?
What are some ways God helps us know what is good and right?
Try This Together:
As a family, talk through a simple everyday choice.
For example:
“What should someone do if they hurt someone’s feelings?”
“What should someone do if they do not understand directions?”
“What should someone do if a friend is being left out?”
Then ask:
“What would God’s good way look like?”
You can remind your child of the four points from today’s Choice Compass:
• Pray • God’s Word • Wise Help • Next Right Step
Simple Prayer Option:
If praying out loud is new for your family, you can simply read this together:
“God, thank You for helping us know the right way to go. Help us choose what is true, loving, wise, and right. When we do not know what to do, help us pray, ask for help, and take the next right step. Amen.”
If You Are New to This:
You do not have to have a perfect answer for every situation. A simple question like, “What would be kind, truthful, and wise?” can help your child think about God’s way in everyday life.
Faith conversations can happen in normal moments — in the car, at dinner, before bed, or while talking through a hard choice.
Parent Encouragement:
Children learn guidance by watching adults make choices too. When they see you pause, pray, ask for wisdom, apologize, or choose kindness when it is hard, they see what it looks like to follow God’s way.
God’s guidance is loving, practical, and patient. He helps children, and He helps adults too.
Adult Devotion:

Devotional Reading:
Proverbs 3:6 invites us to bring God into all our ways — not just our biggest decisions, but our ordinary ones too.
That word “all” matters.
It is easy to think about God’s guidance when we are facing something major: a big decision, a change, a crisis, a financial question, a relationship concern, or an uncertain future. We want God to show us the way when the path feels large and unclear.
But Proverbs 3:6 reaches into the smaller, everyday paths as well.
The way we speak.
The way we respond when we are tired.
The way we handle frustration.
The way we treat people.
The way we apologize.
The way we parent.
The way we lead.
The way we make decisions when no one else sees.
God’s guidance is not only for where we are going. It is also for how we walk.
For children, this is very practical. They are learning that God can help them know the right way to go when they are deciding whether to tell the truth, include someone, ask for help, use kind words, apologize, or walk away from what is wrong.
Adults need that same guidance.
Sometimes we know the right thing, but we need humility to choose it. Sometimes we need wisdom before we respond. Sometimes we need courage to do what is right. Sometimes we need to slow down long enough to ask, “God, what is the wise and loving way here?”
God’s way is not always the easiest way. It may lead us to apologize when pride wants to defend. It may lead us to patience when frustration feels easier. It may lead us to truth when avoidance feels safer. It may lead us to ask for help when we would rather appear in control.
But God’s way is good because God is good.
He does not guide us to shame us or burden us. He guides us because He loves us. His direction is patient, wise, and faithful. He sees more than we see. He knows what forms us, what protects us, what humbles us, and what helps us love Him and others well.
Today, you may have a big decision in front of you. Or you may simply have ordinary moments that require quiet faithfulness.
Either way, the invitation is the same:
Acknowledge Him.
Look to Him.
Ask for wisdom.
Take the next right step.
You do not have to find the way alone. God is able to lead you in the path that is true, loving, wise, and good.
Adult Reflection Questions:
In what ordinary part of my life do I most need God’s guidance right now?
Where am I tempted to choose the easy way instead of the wise and loving way?
What would it look like to pause and acknowledge God before I respond today?
Simple Prayer:
“God, thank You that You care about all my ways. Lead me in what is true, loving, wise, and good. Help me pause before I react, listen before I decide, and follow Your way even when it is not the easiest way. Guide my words, my choices, my relationships, and my next steps today. Amen.”
Optional Next Step:
Before one decision or response today, pause and pray:
“God, show me the right way here.”
Then take the next wise, loving step.
