Week 2 Day 1 – I Praise and Respond

June 1, 2026

Today at Son Seekers, your child wrapped up the week by reviewing what they learned from Psalm 139. They talked about how we can respond to God’s care with praise, gratitude, and everyday choices. This page is here to help you have a simple conversation at home.

Today’s Simple Truth:  Because God knows and loves me, I will praise Him and follow Him.

Bible Verse We Talked About: Psalm 139:14–18, 23–24

(New International Reader’s Version)

14 How you made me is amazing and wonderful.

    I praise you for that.

What you have done is wonderful.

    I know that very well.

15 None of my bones was hidden from you

when you made me inside my mother’s body.

That place was as dark as the deepest parts of the earth.

When you were putting me together there,

16     your eyes saw my body even before it was formed.

You planned how many days I would live.

You wrote down the number of them in your book

before I had lived through even one of them.

17 God, your thoughts about me are priceless.

No one can possibly add them all up.

18 If I could count them,

they would be more than the grains of sand.

If I were to fall asleep counting and then wake up,

you would still be there with me.

...

23 God, see what is in my heart.

    Know what is there.

Test me.

    Know what I’m thinking.

24 See if there’s anything in my life you don’t like.

Help me live in the way that is always right.

In Simple Words:

This week, your child learned that God knows them, made them, is with them, and guides them. Today, they learned that Bible truth invites a response. We can thank God, talk to Him, trust Him, and make choices that reflect His love.

Ask Your Child:

1. What was your favorite thing you learned this week?

2. What is one thing you want to thank God for?

3. What is one way you can follow God in your choices?

Try This Together:

Each person shares one “thank You” statement.

Examples:

“Thank You, God, for making me.”

“Thank You, God, for being with me.”

“Thank You, God, for helping me.”

“Thank You, God, for my family.”

Then choose one simple family response:

- encourage someone - help someone

- speak kindly - pray together

- show patience - forgive

- tell the truth

Simple Prayer Option:

If praying out loud is new for your family, you can simply read this together:

“God, help us choose what is good and wise. Guide our words, our choices, and the way we treat people. Amen.”

If You Are New to This:

You do not have to make this feel formal. You can simply say, “I’m glad you learned that God knows and loves you.” Then ask your child which part of the week they remember most.

Parent Encouragement:

Children often remember truth best when it is repeated in simple ways. A short sentence like, “God made you and loves you,” can become something your child carries with them.

Adult Devotion: Responding to What Is True

Scripture:   Psalm 139:23-24  NIV

14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

23 Search me, God, and know my heart;

test me and know my anxious thoughts.

24 See if there is any offensive way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting.

Devotional Reading:

It is possible to hear something true and still move on unchanged. Life is busy. Responsibilities pile up. We can read a meaningful thought, hear a good message, or watch our child learn something important, and then immediately return to schedules, tasks, pressure, and noise.

Psalm 139 invites more than awareness. It invites response.

David recognizes that he is known by God, made by God, surrounded by God’s presence, and guided by God’s wisdom. His response is praise and surrender. He says, “I praise you,” and he also says, “Search me” and “lead me.”

That combination matters. Praise without surrender can become only words. Surrender without praise can become heavy and joyless. But together, they create a life that says, “God, You are good, and I want Your truth to shape me.”

As a parent or adult, response may not look dramatic. It may look like gratitude when you are tired. It may look like apologizing when you were impatient. It may look like asking God for help before a hard conversation. It may look like choosing not to speak harshly. It may look like encouraging your child with truth instead of rushing past the moment.

This week’s truth is not only for children. You are known. You are made with care. You are not alone. God can guide you. And today, you are invited to respond.

You do not have to respond perfectly. Start honestly. Thank God for one thing. Ask Him for help in one area. Take one step toward the path He is showing you.

Small responses matter when they are real.

Adult Reflection Questions:

1. Which truth from Psalm 139 do I most need to receive right now?

2. What is one way I can respond to God this week with gratitude?

3. What is one area where I need to follow God’s guidance more honestly?

Simple Prayer:

“God, thank You for knowing me, making me, staying with me, and guiding me. Help me not only hear what is true, but respond to it. Teach me to praise You with gratitude and follow You with everyday choices. Amen.”

Optional Next Step:

Choose one simple response for this week:

“I will thank God for ________.”

“I will ask God to help me with ________.”

“I will follow God by choosing ________.”
