Today at Son Seekers, your child talked about a comforting Bible truth: God is with us everywhere. You do not need to have all the answers to use this page. It is simply a way to have a short conversation with your child about what they learned.
Today’s Simple Truth: I am never alone; God is with me everywhere.
Bible Verse We Talked About:Psalm 139:7-12(New International Reader’s Version)
7 How can I get away from your Spirit?
Where can I go to escape from you?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there.
If I lie down in the deepest parts of the earth, you are also there.
9 Suppose I were to rise with the sun in the east.
Suppose I travel to the west where it sinks into the ocean.
10 Your hand would always be there to guide me.
Your right hand would still be holding me close.
11 Suppose I were to say, “I’m sure the darkness will hide me.
The light around me will become as dark as night.”
12 Even that darkness would not be dark to you.
The night would shine like the day,
because darkness is like light to you.
In Simple Words:
The Bible teaches that there is no place we can go where God is not with us. Today, your child learned that God is with them at camp, at home, in new places, in happy moments, and in hard moments. We also reminded children that when they need help, they can talk to God and tell a trusted adult.
Ask Your Child:
1. Where is one place God is with you?
2. What is a place where you sometimes feel nervous or unsure?
3. Who is a trusted grown-up you can talk to when you need help?
Simple Prayer Option:
If praying out loud is new for your family, you can simply read this together:
“God, thank You for being with us everywhere we go. Help us remember that we are never truly alone. Amen.”
If You Are New to This:
You do not need to make this complicated. You can simply tell your child, “I’m glad you learned that God is with you. I am here for you too.” That kind of reassurance matters.
Parent Encouragement:
Children may not always have words for fear, loneliness, or nervousness. A simple check-in question like, “Was there any part of your day when you felt unsure?” can open the door to a meaningful conversation.
Adult Devotion: Not Alone in the Hidden Places
Scripture: Psalm 139:7-10 NIV
7 Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
8 If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
9 If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
10 even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
Devotional Reading:
Many adults carry responsibilities that others never fully see. There are decisions, worries, schedules, pressures, bills, relationships, disappointments, and emotional weight that can remain hidden beneath the surface. It is possible to be surrounded by people and still feel alone in what you are carrying.
Psalm 139 speaks into that hidden place.
David asks where he could go away from God’s presence. His answer is that there is nowhere. Not the highest place. Not the lowest place. Not the farthest place. Not the darkest place. God is there.
This does not mean we will never feel lonely. It does not mean hard things stop being hard. It does not mean we should avoid asking people for help. But it does mean loneliness is not the deepest truth about our lives. God is present even when we feel unseen.
One of the most comforting lines in this part of Psalm 139 is the reminder that even “there” God’s hand will guide and hold. “There” may be the place you did not expect to be. “There” may be the season that feels heavy. “There” may be the conversation you are dreading, the responsibility you are carrying, or the uncertainty you cannot solve yet.
God is not only present in peaceful places. He is present there too.
Today, your child learned that God is with them everywhere. That truth is for you as well. You do not have to have perfect faith to begin noticing God’s presence. You can start with one honest sentence: “God, if You are with me here, help me recognize it.”
Adult Reflection Questions:
1. Where in my life do I feel most alone right now?
2. What would it mean to believe that God is present with me in that specific place?
3. Is there a trusted person I need to reach out to for support, encouragement, or wisdom?
Simple Prayer:
“God, thank You that I am not alone, even when I feel alone. Help me recognize Your presence in the places that feel hidden, heavy, or uncertain. Give me wisdom to ask for help when I need it and courage to trust that You are near. Amen.”
Optional Next Step:
Think of one place or situation where you have struggled feeling like God with you, and for you. Remind yourself:
“God, You are with me there too.”
