Today at Son Seekers, your child talked about a simple Bible truth: God made them with care and purpose. You do not need to have a deep Bible background to talk about this at home. This page gives you a simple way to keep the conversation going.
Today’s Simple Truth: I am God’s masterpiece — fearfully and wonderfully made.
Bible Verse We Talked About: Psalm 139:13–16 (New International Reader’s Version)
13 You created the deepest parts of my being.
You put me together inside my mother’s body.
14 How you made me is amazing and wonderful.
I praise you for that.
What you have done is wonderful.
I know that very well.
15 None of my bones was hidden from you
when you made me inside my mother’s body.
That place was as dark as the deepest parts of the earth.
When you were putting me together there,
16 your eyes saw my body even before it was formed.
You planned how many days I would live.
You wrote down the number of them in your book
before I had lived through even one of them.
In Simple Words:
The Bible teaches that God made each person with care. Your child learned that they are not an accident, not a copy, and not valuable only when they can do something well. They are valuable because God made them and loves them.
Ask Your Child:
1. What is one thing God made special about you?
2. What is something you like about how God made someone else?
3. How can we use the way God made us to help people?
Try This Together:
Each person in the family can say one kind thing about another person. Try to be specific.
Examples:
“I like how you help people.” “I like how creative you are.”
“I like how you keep trying.” “I like how you make people laugh.”
Simple Prayer Option:
If praying out loud is new for your family, you can simply read this together:
“God, thank You for making us with care. Help us remember that we are valuable to You. Help us use the way You made us to love others. Amen.”
If You Are New to This:
You do not have to explain everything perfectly. You can simply say, “I’m glad you learned that God made you with care.” Then ask your child what they think that means.
Parent Encouragement:
Children hear many messages about who they should be, how they should look, and what they should be good at. Tonight, give your child one specific reminder that they are valuable as they are, while still growing.
Adult Devotion: Made With Care
Scripture: Psalm 139:13-14 NIV
13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
Devotional Reading:
It is easy for adults to measure worth by output. We often ask ourselves, “Am I doing enough? Am I succeeding enough? Am I keeping up? Am I meeting everyone’s expectations?” Over time, we can begin to see ourselves more as workers, providers, problem-solvers, caregivers, or performers than as people lovingly made by God.
Psalm 139 reminds us that our worth began before our productivity. Before we could accomplish anything, God was already the One who formed us. Before we could prove ourselves to anyone, God already saw us.
That can be difficult to receive. Some adults have spent years being shaped by criticism, comparison, disappointment, or pressure. We may know how to encourage our children but struggle to speak kindly to ourselves. We may tell a child they are wonderfully made while quietly believing we are mostly measured by our mistakes or responsibilities.
The truth your child heard today is also for you: you were made with care.
This does not mean you are perfect. It does not mean there is no room to grow. It does not mean every part of life feels whole or easy. But it does mean your value is not something you have to manufacture from scratch. You are not merely what you produce, fix, earn, manage, or accomplish.
You are a person made by God.
Today, consider where you have been living from pressure instead of worth. Let Psalm 139 invite you to see yourself not as a project to prove, but as a person God created with intention and love.
Adult Reflection Questions:
1. Where do I most often feel pressure to prove my worth?
2. Is it easier for me to believe my child is wonderfully made than to believe that about myself? Why?
3. What is one part of how God made me that I can receive with gratitude today?
Simple Prayer:
“God, thank You for making me with care. Help me stop measuring my worth only by what I do. Teach me to receive the truth that I am made, known, and loved by You. Amen.”
Optional Next Step:
Write down one sentence today:
“God made me with care, and I can be thankful for ________.”
Fill in the blank with one part of your personality, story, strength, or growth.
